The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP), and the Department of Education (DepEd) announce the opening of the 2013 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC)  for elementary and high school students who wish to participate in the nationwide elimination rounds.

The deadline for submission of applications to all DepEd Divisions is on/before December 3, 2012 (Monday). Interested students and coaches can also visit the official Facebook Fanpage “Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge” to receive updates about the program and access application forms or visit MBFI’s website at www.mbfoundation.org.ph. Now on its 12th year, the Metrobank Math Challenge is an annual math competition that aims to awaken greater interest in math among elementary and high school students and to discover Mathematical talents among the youth. In 2012, more than half a million students representing 34,221 schools participated in the different nationwide elimination rounds. MMC also serves as one of the venues for young math enthusiasts to enhance their skills in math when competing abroad. In fact, 2012 MMC Grade 6 Individual Competition winner Farrell Eldrian Wu reaped a gold medal in the recent 2012 Australian Mathematics Competition.
